About the Artist

James Bansac, born in Lyon in 1924, embarked on his artistic journey at the Ecole nationale des beaux-arts in Lyon. His talent earned him the prestigious Prix de Paris in 1945, enabling him to pursue his craft in Paris. There, he encountered prominent figures such as André Breton, Tristan Tzara, and Pablo Picasso, and honed his skills at the Grande Chaumière studio and Atelier Lombard.

Upon returning to Lyon, Bansac emerged as a key figure in "Sanzism," a local movement that embraced diverse artistic expressions without adhering to a single style. His work was showcased in various exhibitions in Lyon.
