A cool breath of mid-century Paris. The face is reduced to essential planes, the eyes meet yours without flinching, and that saturated ultramarine blouse anchors the whole composition with confidence. Hair in pale ochre, a slate ground, coral-tinted lips—color does the storytelling here. The result is modern, composed, and just ambiguous enough to keep you looking. The sitter hovers between masculine and feminine, which only heightens the magnetism. It feels like a paused conversation: intimate, present, a little mysterious.


Why It's in [La Trouvaille]
Because it echoes Vilhelm Lundstrøm’s Hanne Wilhelm Hansen (1946)—the portrait that hangs above Finn Juhl’s Poet sofa in his Charlottenlund living room, a space The New York Times named among “The 25 Rooms That Influence the Way We Design.” Yet this painting is softer, more French in temperament. The edges soften, the transitions relax, and the blue stays cool yet alive, trading Danish crispness for Parisian ease. Simple, bold lines carry the feeling. Fewer words, more presence.

Painting will be shipped from France. We offer free international shipping to the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and affordable rates to the rest of the world. All items are insured and carefully packaged to ensure they arrive safely. Delivery typically takes 5–15 business days, depending on your location.

🇺🇸 U.S. customers: All of our pieces--vintage and antique (100+ years old) original paintings--are exempt from import duties and tariffs. As of August 2025, this remains true. We provide the correct documentation to ensure your order clears customs smoothly.
🇬🇧 UK customers: Antique artworks are duty-free and qualify for a reduced 5% VAT at import, not the full rate.
🌍 Customers in other countries: Duties and taxes vary, but original and antique artworks often qualify for reduced or zero import fees. Please check with your local customs office for details. We’re happy to assist and provide any documentation you may need.
